ArborGrow
A tree inhabits the same soil for its entire
life. Environmental stress factors in the urban landscape
can deplete the soil over time, leaving it exhausted, compacted,
and inefficient for sustaining the root system of a healthy
tree. Arborgrow® soil therapy is recommended for treating
soil deficiencies.
Symptoms of Soil and Nutrient Deficiencies
Soil deficiencies can be complex and difficult
to diagnose. Abnormal leaf color, size, shape, and density
may indicate a nutrient deficiency in the soil. The symptoms
for insect, disease, or herbicide damage are similar. An imbalance
in soil pH and chemistry can affect nutrient availability
and mimic deficiency. Soil compaction can reduce pore space,
root development, and restrict water and nutrient movement.
A professional such as a certified arborist can diagnose soil
deficiencies and recommend treatment. Fertilizing is a critical
step in rebuilding root systems and replenishing energy reserves.
Soil testing is used to fine-tune rates and customize micronutrient
levels.
A Complete Soil Therapy Program
Arborguard has carefully formulated a soil
therapy program to address soil deficiencies and improve the
health of urban trees. A complete soil therapy program will:
- Increase organic matter.
- Improve soil texture, structure, and density
to facilitate water, air, and nutrient exchange.
- Increase water availability.
- Enrich nitrogen and other essential nutrients.

A key component of our soil therapy is Arborgrow®,
a soil treatment that we developed based on more than 26 years
of proven results. Arborgrow® contains only high-quality ingredients
that deliver essential elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus,
potassium, and magnesium to meet basic requirements of trees
and shrubs. Our nitrogen is slow-release, non-burning, and
non-leaching for increased stability. Arborgrow® also contains
seakelp, yucca, and other biostimulants that introduce organic
matter, improve soil structure, and release trace elements
and plant growth hormones. Microbial spores are also introduced
to colonize the root zone with beneficial bacterial.

The Right Arborgrow® Formula Can Make
the Difference
A tree's demand for energy, and biological
level of activity vary with the season. An understanding of
energy cycles in trees helps in determining the timing of
fertilizers and other soil applications. An Arborgrow®
formula is available for each season of our climate. The Basic
mix is designed to provide the essential nutrients to sustain
tree health. The Super mix includes mycorrhizal spores and
other biostimulants for trees experiencing decline or other
stress. Studies have shown that mycorrhizae increase the root
surface area, thereby increasing water and nutrient uptake.
Custom mixes containing iron or other micronutrients may be
used to treat specific problems such as chlorosis, or specific
requirements of young and mature trees.
Benefits of Soil Therapy
Trees are healthier when fertilized along
with aeration and watering. Healthier trees live longer and
are more resistant to insects and disease. Older and stressed
trees have improved response to the decline process. Increased
root development is seen in young trees. A complete soil therapy
program will prevent, as well as treat soil deficiencies.
