Georgia Urban Agriculture Council

On January 31, 2012, Arborguard was awarded the Georgia Urban Agriculture Council’s Green Innovations Award of Distinction, for tree preservation efforts during the construction of the Tanyard Creek BeltLine Trail. Each year, the Georgia AG Council bestows this award in recognition of outstanding industry professionalism.
Avondale Estates

On October 15, 2011, Arborguard ISA certified arborist, Mark Livingston, led a Tree Identification Walking Tour along Avondale Lake in Avondale Estates. The walk was open to all Avondale Estates residents and coincided with the City's annual Autumn Fest.
2nd Annual College Tree Canopy Conference

On October 11, 2011, Arborguard president, Spence Rosenfeld, was a featured speaker at the 2nd Annual Georgia Urban Forest Council (GUFC) College Tree Canopy Conference. Spence detailed Arborguard's innovative Silva Cell installation project on the campus of Clemson University.
12th Annual Trees Atlanta Tree Sale and Festival

On October 8, 2011, Arborguard ISA certified arborist, Mark Livingston, held a hands-on tree pruning lecture at the 12th Annual Trees Atlanta Tree Sale and Festival. On September 27, 2011, Arborguard president, Spence Rosenfeld, was the Peachtree Garden Club's featured speaker at their meeting at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. On July 18, 2011, Arborguard president, Spence Rosenfeld, was the Historic Oakland Foundation's invited presenter during their visit from the Perennial Plant Association's 2011 Symposium. Spence was on hand to field questions from Symposium attendees from around the county regarding the latest GPS tree survey technology, including the ArborScout® survey Arborguard recently performed for the Historic Oakland Cemetery. On July 11, 2011, Arborguard president, Spence Rosenfeld, and Arborguard ASCA certified arborist, Barry Gemberling, were featured speakers at the Seven Devil's, North Carolina Town Council Meeting. The two discussed the importance of proper urban tree care, and detailed the results of Arborguard's recent ArborScout® tree survey, which quantified the environmental benefits of the Town's tree canopy. On April 28, 2011, Arborguard ISA certified arborist, David Dechant, helped lead the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects on a tour of the Atlanta Botanical Garden's Canopy Walk. David, along with Todd Hill with AECOM Design+Planning, and Steve Robinson of Axios Architecture, discussed the planning, inspiration, and tree protection involved in the unique project. On November 18, 2010, Arborguard President, Spence Rosenfeld, received the GUFC Outstanding Urban Arboriculture Grand Award for innovative tree preservation efforts at the Atlanta Botanical Garden's Canopy Walk. On June 4, 2010, Arborguard president, Spence Rosenfeld, participated in the American Public Gardens Association Conference at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Spence fielded questions from conference attendees and detailed Arborguard’s extensive involvement in the preservation of trees during construction of the new Canopy Walk.

Canopy Walk Grand Opening

From April 28, to May 2, 2010, Arborguard president, Spence Rosenfeld, and Arborguard LEED accredited arborist, David Dechant, took part in the Atlanta Botanical Garden Canopy Walk grand opening celebration. Both arborists were instrumental in the development and implementation of innovative tree preservation techniques during construction of the Canopy Walk, and were available each day to answer questions about their experiences.
Piedmont Park Conservancy
New Green Space Celebration

On April 29, 2010, the Piedmont Park Conservancy hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of new green space in Piedmont Park. Among those in attendance were Atlanta city officials, members of the Conservancy, and Arborguard president, Spence Rosenfeld. The new green space replaces the 1.6-acre surface parking lot that closed in May 2009, and features bocce courts, new lawns, lighted pathways, benches, water fountains, mature trees, and a beautiful arbor. Arborguard provided the tree care and preservation for the parking lot reclamation, and continues to work with the Conservancy on the remaining portions of the 53-acre expansion of Piedmont Park.

On April 22, 2010, Arborguard helped to celebrate Earth Day at various locations in and around Atlanta, providing tree care tips and environmental education for our clients and our community.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

On April 10, 2010, more than one hundred people gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the Tanyard Creek BeltLine Trail. In attendence were Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Atlanta City Council President Ceasar Mitchell and Arborguard president Spence Rosenfeld. Each addressed the crowd regarding the importance of cooperation during the redevelopment, and participated in the official ribbon cutting ceremony.

On March 22, 2010, Arborguard president, Spence Rosenfeld, was awarded the Park Pride Inspiration Award for “extraordinary dedication and leadership to Atlanta’s parks and greenspace.
